Turkey Satiated

So, how was your Thanksgiving? Did you eat too much? But of course.

I started the day with my very own Turkey Trot. The official SF one is limited to 1,000 people and was sold out by the time I was willing to commit (the night before).

So I ran through the city and every time someone passed me (I know, shocking, right? That people pass me. I’ll wait why you recover your senses) I would try to keep pace with them for at least a block, maybe more. Lucky me there are A LOT of people who run on Thanksgiving in preparation of the pending caloric overload. Made for a memorable run.

Then we baked raisin scones, honey-glazed carrots and whipped up a batch of tiramisu to take to our T-day potluck. A group of 25 and everyone contributed multiple dishes of rich decadent goodness.

And the turkey was BBQ’d. Can I just say YUM!! Erin and David outdid themselves.

Yes, were stunned by the end of the evening. And I managed to lose my voice with all the chit chat.

Today I went to check on Now Voyager. I’m sad to report that things remain largely unchanged. Poor guy. What’s really frustrating is it comes and goes. He’ll take two really ouchy steps and then walk on like nothing is wrong. The vet is coming out again on Monday.

My Aunt Pam forwarded me this email today. I simply must share:

Below are graphic photos of an actual polar bear attack in Churchill.

These pictures were taken while people watched and did nothing to stop the attack.

Reports from the local newspaper say that the victim will make a full recovery.

The photos are below…

I know, kind of a cheesy joke but I got the biggest smile on my face. Last time I smiled that big was yesterday when I ran by a german sheppard puppy on his walk and his gangly legs and floppy ears just warmed my heart.

I didn’t have my camera with me but he looked kind of like this…

I am SUCH a sucker for baby animals. Well, really all animals. But the little ones are so darn cuddly.

  3. too cute! Yes the pre-turkey racing/running is a good thing to do…with a race or not. Fortunately there are a few races on T-day down here so i could wait until the last minute. 🙂

I hope NV gets better soon. So sad to hear he’s not progressing much.

  4. Had to show son, Shaggy, the polar bears…he’s a fellow animal LOVER and loved the pictures. So happy you had a tasty holiday. Hope NV gets better soon!

  5. Hi Girlie,
I forgot to send you the “official” name of the herbal remedy that I had told you about. It’s called, “Breathe, Herbal Lung Support.” I might go buy some and I’ll let you know more about it!

  6. Those polar bear photos are too cute! And the Thanksgiving potluck sounds like so much fun. I love a good potluck!
