Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

If you’re in the Bay Area this weekend and you enjoy live music I have treat to share.

The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival features three days of amazing music on multiple stages in Golden Gate Park. And it’s free. A gift to the city from music-lover Warren Hellman. Thank you Mr. Hellman.

Here are a few acts I’m hoping to catch. MC Hammer is on Friday. He puts the “hardly” in the festival name.

Patty Griffin – Rooster Stage (2:45pm)
the subdudes – Arrow Stage (5:45pm)

Carolina Chocolate Drops- Banjo Stage (12:55pm)
Joan Baez – Banjo Stage (2:00pm)
Songwriter Circle with Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen, John Doe & David Olney – Rooster Stage (2:30pm)
Jerry Jeff Walker – Arrow Stage (3:55pm)
Gillian Welch – Banjo Stage (4:20pm)
Steve Earle & The Dukes – Banjo Stage (5:45pm)

Indigo Girls – Rooster Stage (1:00pm)
Randy Newman – Towers of Gold Stage (2:05pm)
Rosanne Cash – Rooster Stage (3:25pm)
Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – Rooster Stage (5:55pm)

That’s 12 acts out of the 84 on offer. I may have to listen to Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs being a fan of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Come join me!

  1. wow. MC Hammer? The rest of the lineup looks good though 😉
