Triathlon Inspiration

September 22, 2009

Inspiration appears in the most unlikely places.
Take, for instance, my triathlon the other day.
There I am minding my own business on the first loop of the bike portion of the race. Keeping a decent cadence and working out the seemingly inevitable sluggishness left over from the swim.
When I am passed. By a woman. On a [...]

Tri for Real Race Report

September 21, 2009

I had so much fun on Sunday at the Tri for Real race in Pleasanton!
Weatherpeople all around the Bay Area were predicting a huge heat wave so I was super happy to find the city doused in fog when the alarm went off at 4:30 a.m.
Fog in SF could mean a cooler start to [...]

Tri for Real

September 16, 2009

I love the name of this race! It’s part of the reason I wanted to do it. That, plus it meets my criteria.
“And exactly what is your criteria, Kathleen?” I’m glad you asked!
*Local!
A spot I can jump in my car and drive to the morning of and still do some stuff later in the [...]

A Guatamalan Triathlon

June 9, 2009

My friend Coach Allison gets the award for doing a triathlon in one of the more remote and exotic locations.
Here’s her writeup…

El Remate Triathlon, called Hombre Maya. It’s a 1km swim in beautiful lake Peten-Itza, 34km bike to Tikal, the famous Mayan Pyramids, and 7km run in the pyramids, ending in the central plaza [...]

Playing Catch Up

May 7, 2009

Is it really Thursday? My oh my, where did Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday go?
Ok, this is going to be a catch-up kind of post. Quick overview. Bullet points. You with me?
* Jenny finished her first ever Marathon!! Injury and all. She just powered through it with her usual good humor and grace. Twitting along the [...]

Racing Friends

May 1, 2009

I still have not committed to a tri in 2009…I know, serious feet dragging going on. There are two in early June that look interesting but no fees paid yet. Not sure what I’m waiting for.
In the meantime, my friends are in full race season and I’m loving following their adventures.
Wildflower is the weekend. Everyone [...]

Blogging Women of Ironman Hawaii

October 10, 2008

One of my favorite things about joining the world of blogging is the assortment of crazy talented people I’ve been meeting along the way.
Today I want to give a big shout to my blogging friends who are competing in the Ironman Hawaii race tomorrow. This is the *world championships* of triathlons my friends.
GO Maggs! [...]

See Jane Run Race Report

September 30, 2008

Let me start by saying it was a great race! Perfect weather, great group of women and the joy of a sprint distance course. I am now officially a total fan of the sprint.
The lake was warm so I went swimming sans wet suit. The start was in the water and my group of 132 [...]

Quick Tri Update

September 27, 2008

I did it! My second triathlon race is history. And boy was it fun. I so see the attraction of sprint distance races…much more manageable.
More later when I can get the results from the See Jane Run site because otherwise I’m hopeless at figuring out how long each section took me to complete.
I think [...]

Taper Training Plan

September 23, 2008

My second triathlon is fast approaching…the See Jane Tri is this Saturday and I’m so psyched!
“Why are you psyched?” inquire my inquisitive readers.
Two reasons…
Reason One – it’s a SPRINT distance…I know I’ve said this several times already but I’m so ready to do a race that will take me 1.5 hours instead of [...]
